WITTICH Netherlands

Guy Wittich has worked in leading positions in the private and public sectors in Taiwan, China, and the Netherlands for nearly four decades: Including Asia-Pacific management roles at KLM-Air France, CEO of the European Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan, Netherlands Representative & Director of the Netherlands Office Taipei (NLOT), and in various economic strategy and policy development positions at the Dutch ministries of economic and foreign affairs. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Taiwan Circular Network foundation. With the Netherlands and Taiwan as early adapters of CE in both public policy development and private sector implementation, during his tenure at the Netherlands Office (2015-2020) he strengthened bilateral CE cooperation: Business missions, public and private sector exchanges and a demonstration project in circular construction: The first circular-built Dutch Pavilion at the Taichung World Agro Expo (2018), of which the building materials were later re-used for a new structure at Tai Sugar facility. Circularity has also been a focus area in his most recent assignments for the Dutch government on international cooperation in the semicon industry and in the diversification of critical raw material supply chains. The design of the governance structure is crucial to turn the circular economy from a vision into a mainstream economic model that actually promotes sustainable growth. This session focuses on the "Circular Trilogy" - from the internal transformation of corporate governance, policy guidance at the national level, to regulatory alignment and cooperation platforms at the international level, with the aim of exploring how to establish institutional conditions and cross-level connection mechanisms to support circular economy actions. It therefore explains how to make "good ideas" become "good business" and make circular economy a real economy driver.
