CHIU Taiwan

Hui-Jen Chiu is a long-time researcher in concrete materials, currently serving as Manager of the Competitiveness Development Division at Yatung Ready Mixed Concrete and Secretary General of the Taiwan Concrete Institute. He previously worked at the Taiwan Construction Research Institute, specializing in the R&D of engineering materials, and has served as a materials consultant on numerous major projects. His work spans a wide range of innovative applications, including the use of coal-fired power plant bottom ash in CLSM for Taiwan Power Company, the localization of low-level radioactive waste buffer materials, the design of plastic concrete for the Hushan Reservoir, long-distance pumping technology for the Taipei Twin Towers, the development of high-fly ash concrete for the CEC Research Building, and the promotion of circular-economy construction materials for the Nangang Social Housing project in Taipei. Throughout his career, he has maintained a strong passion for the development of new materials and the reuse of resources, living by the philosophy “I think, therefore I am,” and applying critical thinking and innovation to every project and research endeavor.
